The Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education reached an agreement with a leading global company in the field of intellectual property
The Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education held a meeting with a delegation led by the head of Lexis-Nexis Gandolfo Yakono within the framework of the project “Science and Education - 2020”, jointly with Elsevier (Netherlands).
At the meeting, Deputy Minister U. Begimgulov discussed the issues of patenting scientific developments with foreign partners, in particular the international indexation of patents of Uzbek scientists.
In order to o be among the 50 strongest global innovation index, the number of patent applications is considered to be one of the main indicators. For this reason, the meeting considered the possibility of organizing studies on patenting at universities.
As a result of negotiations, an agreement was acheived on providing the universities of the republic with the possibility of test access to the largest patent-analytical databases. It was also agreed to organize a series of events on patenting and commercialization of scientific results, as well as training on the use of the system. For information, LexisNexis®, being one of the leading international companies in its field with more than 123 million patents, is the largest patent base in the world.
