In order to integrate theoretical and practical training of future doctors, to develop practical skills of students, as well as to improve the quality of medical personnel provided to the population which needs it in the Samarkand Region, it was decided that 5th and 6th year students of the Institute, who have permanent residence in Samarkand and Navoi Regions, will undergo practical training at the local facilities.
Thus, 219 students of the 5th year and 267 students of the 6th year (486 students in total) were sent for internship. A group of representatives of the Institute's faculty was also mobilized to supervise the students undergoing practical training. The Head of the Department of "General Surgery" of the Pediatric Faculty, PhD, Associate Professor U.A. Sherbekov was appointed as the general manager of the internship.
So, students, who are in practical training, will also be involved in the organisation of local educational work among the population on such topical issues as non-infectious diseases and their prevention, maintenance of a healthy lifestyle, introduction of the principles of healthy eating , physical activity and its importance into daily life, etc. The internship will be conducted in conjunction with medical examination and treatment of the population. In addition, all students will take part in the training process every day (except Sundays) till 1 pm, then continue education in online mode after 1 pm, receiving theoretical knowledge in various clinical disciplines.
To sum up, the introduction of such a system, which integrates theory and practice, will certainly have a positive impact on the development of our students as highly qualified medical professionals.
