HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT


  The Department of Faculty Therapy was organised in the academic year 1932-1933. The department was located on the basis of the 1st Clinical Hospital of Samarkand. The first head of the department was A.M.Krasnopolsky, who conducted researches on problems of gastroenterology.
  In 1935 - 1942 the department was headed by Associate Professor P.I.Denisova. Under her leadership, A.J. Jalalov defended his PhD thesis.
  In 1942 - 1949 the Chair was headed by Professor T.S.Mnatsakanov. At the same time, Professor T.S. Mnatsakanov also held the posts of Dean and Vice-Rector of the Institute.
  In 1949-1957 A.K.Odilov was head of the department of internal diseases, who was rector of the Institute.
  In 1957 - 1986 the Department of Faculty Therapy was headed by the Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan, DSc, Professor N.A.Mirzayan. 2 DSc and 27 PhD dissertations were defended under his leadership.
  In 1986-1996, Honoured Doctor of the Republic, Professor N.M.Kamalov headed the Department. During these 10 years, Professor Kamalov had also been working as the Rector of the Samarkand State Medical Institute. Under the leadership of N.M.Kamalov 7 PhD dissertations were defended. In addition, the textbook "Internal Diseases" was published for the first time in Uzbekistan.
In 1996 - 1997 academic years Professor F.S. Tadjiev headed the department, and in 1997 - 1999 Professor G.H. Khaidarova.
  In 1999-2002 the Department of internal diseases №1 was organized, which included the Department of internal diseases №3. The head of the department was PhD, Associate Professor U.B.Samiev.
  In 2002, the Faculty Therapy Department was again separated as an independent department under the supervision of DSc, R.R. Sattarov and located at the Central Hospital of CMA . Since 2005 the department was called "Department of therapy and hematology".
  In 2013 the department was named "Department of internal diseases #3 and endocrinology".

Since 2012, DSc, Professor Shodikulova G.Z has been being the Head of the Department of internal diseases #3.

  In 2020, under the supervision of Professor Shodikulova G.Z., Assistant Department Babamuradova Z.B. defended her thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) on "The significance of phenotypic, genetic markers on the development, course and early diagnosis of connective tissue undifferentiated dysplasia ". In 2021 the assistant of the chair Pulatov U.S. defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) on "Influence of haptoglobin phenotypes on the course and effectiveness of treatment of anemia in patients with rheumatoid arthritis".


SPIRITUAL AND EDUCATIONAL WORK;


  The department is involved in educating young people in the spirit of devotion to the ideas of national independence and building a free and prosperous country of love for the Motherland, patriotism; spiritual and educational activities are organised. Also, members of the department hold various scientific, creative and artistic events, clubs and meetings to reveal the knowledge and potential of our talented students. In addition, teachers are actively involved in spiritual and educational work in dormitories.

In carrying out this work, the department works closely with the Institute's public organisations: Department for Youth, Spirituality and Enlightenment, the Trade Union Committee, the primary organisation of the Youth Union and the Women's Committee.

The main objectives of spiritual and educational work in our department are to educate students in the spirit of devotion to national and human values, to broaden their spiritual, aesthetic and moral outlook of students, to protect their thinking from the influence of various alien ideas, and to develop selfless, patriotic personalities.

The main areas of spiritual and educational work of the Department of Internal Diseases No. 3 are:

– educating students in the spirit of national and human values;

– preparation for civic and social duties to the homeland;

– increasing the responsibility of students in their learning of the medical profession;

– forming and improvement students' individual and personal qualities;

– encouragement of social engagement, initiative and a sense of social responsibility and respect for the learning process among students;

– Development of students' socio-political and legal awareness, and foster critical and analytical thinking skills;

– Demonstrating to students the negative consequences of injustice, greed and parochialism;

– organisation of recreational, scientific and creative activities for students, taking into account their interests;

– Improvement of spiritual, moral and educational work.

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH


  11 professors and teachers, including 1 DSc, 2 PhDs: head of department, DSc, Professor G.Z.Shodikulova, PhD, S.O.Djuraev, PhD, Yusupov F.T. Thus, pedagogical activity is realized by assistants: Zukhra Palvanovna Kurbanova, Olga Aleksandrovna Ibadova, Dilshod Karimovich Samatov, Ulugbek Sunatovich Pulatov, Madina Mukhtarovna Ergashova, Zarangis Kamoliddinovna Toirova, Ozod Vohidovich Mirzaev, Sukhrob Nugmanovich Ellamonov work at the chair of internal diseases.

  Four teachers of the department are independent researchers of internal medicine (PhD) 14.00.05 and conduct research on their subjects: Ergashova M.M. "Features of clinical course, diagnosis and treatment of secondary osteoarthritis in women with rheumatoid arthritis", Samatov D.K. "Features of course, diagnosis and treatment of upper gastrointestinal tract pathology in patients with gastrointestinal dysplasia", Ibadova O. A "Clinical and immunological predictors and their role in the progression of nonspecific interstitial pneumonia", Mirzaev O.V "Prevalence and features of the course of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia on the example of Samarkand and Djizak regions".

  The research work of the rest of the teachers is at the stage of approving research topics.
