The main goal of the department is improving health professionals along with the main educational programs of their professional knowledge, improve practical skills and abilities, prepare for the implementation of new job functions.
Tasks of the department:
• meeting the needs of healthcare workers in obtaining new knowledge about the achievements of domestic and foreign medical science and technology, foreign advanced experience and scientific organization of labor;
• conducting advanced training and professional retraining of medical workers in accordance with educational programs approved in the Ministry of Health in accordance with the established procedure, using the achievements of modern medical science and high medical technologies in the educational process;
• training in clinical residency and magistracy programs;
• advisory activities.

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the rector of SamMI № 98 - U 2.05.96 at the Faculty of Pediatrics, a course of otorhinolaryngology for advanced training of doctors was organized at the department of otorhinolaryngology of SamMI.
In 1997. in accordance with the order of the rector of SamMI dated 07.07.1997 No. 174-U, the course of otorhinolaryngology was organized as the department of otorhinolaryngology of the faculty of advanced training for doctors of SamMI. In 2005, by order of the rector of SamMI №335-U, the department was renamed into the department of otorhinolaryngology and dentistry of SamMI. In accordance with the order of the rector of SamMI 326-U dated 03.23.2017, the Department of Otorhinolaryngology for advanced training of SamMI doctors was renamed into the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the Faculty of Postgraduate Education of SamMI.
The ENT department was established in Samarkand in 1929 at the Republican hospital. The department was designed for 20 beds. The head of the department was A.V. Saveliev. In 1933, on the basis of the department, the department of ENT diseases of the institute was created. The head of the department A.V. Saveliev was awarded the title of professor and he was appointed head of the department.
Alexander Vasilievich Savelyev was born in 1898 in the Saratov province of Russia. In 1925 he graduated from the medical faculty of Saratov State University, and in 1925-1930 he worked as an intern in the otorhinolaryngological clinic of this faculty. In 1930 he came to Samarkand. A.V. Savelyev headed the department in 1933-1950 and at the same time in 1935-1939 was the chief physician of the polyclinic, in 1941-1944 he was a consultant professor at the evacuation hospital in Samarkand, and in 1941-1942 he was the head of the city health department of Samarkand , and in 1943-1945 he worked as the dean of the medical faculty of SamMI. A.V. Saveliev was awarded the honorary title "Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan". Since 1950 he was appointed rector of the Kursk Medical Institute and head of the department of ENT diseases.
From 1932 to 1948 S.K.Chengeri worked at the department. Stanislav Kazimerovich Chengeri was born in 1898. In 1925 he graduated from the medical faculty of Saratov University. Having moved to Samarkand, he worked in the clinic as an otolaryngologist, deputy chief physician for medical work. SK Chengery defended his dissertation in 1944, and in 1945 he was awarded the title of Associate Professor. In recent years S.K. Chengery worked as an assistant professor at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at SamMI. He was awarded the honorary title "Honored Doctor of Uzbekistan".
Veniamin Andreevich Gorchakov was born in 1918 in the current Volgograd region of Russia. In 1940, after graduating from the Voronezh Medical Institute, he was drafted into military service. During World War II, he fought as a military doctor, was besieged and participated in the partisan movement. After the war, he continued his military service and worked as a military doctor in hospitals.
From 1951 to 1959 V.A. Gorchakov worked as an assistant at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the Medical Institute of Turkmenistan, from 1959 to 1970 he worked as a senior researcher at the Kiev Scientific Research Institute of Otolaryngology. In 1969 he defended his doctoral dissertation, and in 1970 he received the title of professor. Professor V.A. Gorchakov was elected head of the department of otorhinolaryngology of SamMI in 1970 and until 1981 was the head of the department, from 1981 to 1987 he was a professor of this department.
Raisa Vokhidovna Sadrieva was born in 1918 in the city of Samarkand. In 1941 he graduated from the Samarkand Medical Institute. From 1941 to 1946 she has worked as a medical practitioner. In 1946 she was admitted to the ENT department of the Republican Hospital. From 1947 to 1950 he worked as a clinical intern in the department of otorhinolaryngology, from 1950 to 1959 she worked as an assistant.
R.V. Sadriev 1959-1964 associate professor of this department and 1964-1970. effectively worked as the head of the department. In 1968 she was awarded the honorary title "Honored Doctor of Uzbekistan". Associate Professor R.V. Sadrieva defended her doctoral dissertation in 1980 and was awarded the title of professor. Professor R.V. Sadrieva headed the department from 1981 to 1987, and after 1987 worked as a professor-consultant.
Takhsin Khamidovich Nasreddinov was born in 1944 in the Kattakurgan district of the Samarkand region. In 1966 he graduated from the medical faculty of SamMI. From 1968 to 1971 he studied at the Central Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education in Moscow at the Department of ENT - diseases, defended his thesis. From 1972 to 1978 T.H. Nasreddinov worked as an assistant at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology SamMI. 1978-1980 studied in doctoral studies. From 1981 to 1983 he worked as Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at SamMI.
After defending his doctoral dissertation, he was awarded the title of professor. Professor T.Kh.Nasreddinov was the head of the department of ENT diseases of the medical faculty, located in the 2nd clinic of the institute, from 1987 to the end of his life until 2008, he headed the department after the merger of the two faculties.
Akrom Ibragimovich Muminov was born in 1937 in the city of Samarkand. Graduated from the medical faculty of TashMI in 1961. From 1961 to 1965 he worked at the SamMI clinic as an assistant at the Department of ENT diseases and at the same time as deputy dean of the medical faculty. Then he moved to TashMI, where he defended his Ph.D. and doctoral dissertations. He worked as an associate professor, head of the department of ENT diseases of the Tashkent Medical Institute. He received the academic title of professor. AI Muminov was at the same time the dean of the medical faculty, and then the vice-rector for academic affairs. Professor A.I. Muminov was one of the founders of the Bukhara Medical Institute in 1991 and the first rector of the institute in 1991-1995. In 1995 he moved to Samarkand, where in 1995-2000 he worked as the rector of SamMI and at the same time the head of the department of otorhinolaryngology. Professor AI Muminov was awarded the honorary title "Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan".
In 2001, the head of the department was elected U.L. Lutfullaev. Umrillo Lutfullaevich Lutfullaev was born in 1943 in the city of Urgut, Samarkand region. Graduated from the medical faculty of SamMI in 1967. He began his career in the central hospital of the Urgut region. Having mastered the ENT specialty, he organized and headed the ENT department in the district hospital. Simultaneously with practical work, he worked as a research assistant. In 1978 he defended his thesis at the Specialized Scientific Council of the Central Institute for Advanced Training of Doctors in Moscow on the topic: "The state of the upper respiratory tract, olfactory and vestibular analyzers and the prevention of their disorders in tobacco growers." U.L. Lutfullaev worked as a chief physician at the central hospital of the Urgut region and continued his research work. In 1988 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Vascular organs of the ENT organs of the lung (clinic, diagnosis, treatment)" at the Scientific Research Institute of the ear, nose and throat named after Kolomiychenko in Kiev. 1989 - 2013 He worked as the head of the department of otorhinolaryngology of the faculty of advanced training for doctors of SamMI. He is currently a professor at the department.
Since September 2013, t.f. G.U. Lutfullaev is the head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Postgraduate Education, SamMI. Lutfullaev Gairat Umrillaevich was born in 1975 in the city of Urgut, Samarkand region. In 1992 he entered the Samarkand State Medical Institute. 1998 graduated from the medical faculty of the Samarkand State Medical Institute, in 2000 he successfully completed his clinical residency. G.U. Lutfullaev entered graduate school and began his scientific career. In 2004, under the guidance of Professor A.M. Khakimova defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic: "Clinic, diagnosis and treatment of benign tumors of the nose and paranasal sinuses" and in 2012. defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: "Diagnostics and treatment of benign tumors of the pharynx" under the guidance of Professor S. Arifov.

SPIRITUAL AND EDUCATIONAL WORK OF THE DEPARTMENT
Leisure of cadets and future specialists is also carried out in cultural work. One of the main activities of the department is the formation of high moral values, fostering interest in professional activities, the need for a healthy lifestyle, attracting students to cultural events of the institute. To carry out these tasks at the department, a curator is assigned to the groups from among experienced teachers. Under the guidance of curators, cadets actively participate in social events, organize cultural leisure, visit historical monuments and sights of Samarkand, theaters and museums.
Much attention is paid to physical education and sports. Master's students and clinical residents visit sports sections in tennis, chess, football, basketball, volleyball, national wrestling, martial arts, athletics, which function on the basis of the sports complex of the institute. They actively participate in both regional and Republican sports competitions.
As the Eastern wisdom says - "It is not possible to separate education from upbringing and vice versa, upbringing from education." More than 200 specialists are trained at the faculty annually.
Spiritual and educational work is carried out on the basis of an approved plan, according to which various events are held dedicated to historical dates, national holidays, sports competitions, etc. Various meetings are held together with the internal affairs bodies, law enforcement agencies, centers of spirituality and other partner organizations.
Each curator has a work plan, on the basis of which he conducts various activities with the curator group. Each curator has information about each student, and his daily routine. There are also albums and discs, which reflect the plots of the events held. Every Thursday classes begin with an introduction to the Information Hour.
